Tesla Model 3 Brembo Big Brake Kit (6-Piston Monoblock)

Owners who frequent the track with their Model 3s have most certainly encountered the limitations of the factory braking systems. (We’ve seen this quite a bit at our TeslaCorsa track day events.) Despite the assistance of regenerative braking, Model 3 is a heavy car and as a result, tough on its brakes leading to heat-related issues like boiling brake fluid and excessively fast wear of pads. World-renowned brake manufacturer Brembo created their line of 6-piston Monobloc Braking upgrades to combat these issues and help turn Model 3 into a real trackday contender.

Despite the assistance of regenerative braking, Model 3 is a heavy car and as a result, tough on its brakes leading to heat-related issues like boiling brake fluid and excessively fast wear of pads. World-renowned brake manufacturer Brembo created their line of 6-piston Monobloc Braking upgrades to combat these issues and help turn Model 3 into a real track day contender.

The 6-piston Monobloc Brake Systems are available in 3 flavors:

  • GT – Features single-piece painted cast calipers
  • GTS – Features single-piece cast calipers that use an ultra-durable, hard-anodized finish that helps to dispel heat more easily
  • GTR – Features single-piece billet aluminum calipers (machined from a single piece of aluminum for superior rigidity) that feature a nickel-plated finish for improved heat dissipation.

All kits feature single-piece calipers for improved stiffness (improved rigidity fights caliper flex, improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the calipers), as well as 2-piece 355mm floating rotors. The upsized calipers and rotors not only provide more forceful braking, but provide more surface area for heat absorption and dissipation (keeping heat out heat out of the brake lines, thus mitigating fluid boiling leading to a less-responsive “squishy” pedal feel).

BREMBO GT

  • Front Caliper Upgrade
  • Cast Monobloc with a painted finish (1-piece caliper)
  • Aluminum Alloy Pistons with Dust boots and inner pressure seals
  • Brembo Painted Logo (Choose between Red, Black, Silver, or Yellow colored calipers)
  • Rotors: 2-piece floating – 355mm diameter x 32mm thickness
  • Pads: RT TS20 – The TS20 is the ideal dual-purpose compound for street and light track use. The TS20 combines an aggressive initial bite, and good heat resistance while keeping dust and noise to a minimum.

BREMBO GTS

  • Front Caliper Upgrade
  • Cast Monobloc with a hard anodized finish (1-piece caliper)
  • Stainless Steel Piston Inserts w/ Twin Internal Seal Design
  • Brembo Racing Logo milled into the face
  • Rotors: 2-piece floating – 355mm diameter x 32mm thickness
  • Pads: RT TS20 – The TS20 is the ideal dual-purpose compound for street and light track use. The TS20 combines an aggressive initial bite, good heat resistance while keeping dust and noise to a minimum.

BREMBO GTR

  • Front Caliper Upgrade
  • Billet Monobloc with a nickel-plated finish (1-piece caliper)
  • Stainless Steel Piston Inserts w/ Twin Internal Seal Design and ventilation for extra cooling

TYPE-III BRAKE ROTORS
A QUICK PRIMER

It goes without saying that brake rotors are an integral part of every braking and that as a result, good rotors make a world of difference in overall brake performance.

Not all rotors are created equal! – There are many different subtle changes that can be made by a manufacturer that affect the qualities of a rotor. Brembo uses their decades of motorsports experience perfecting metal alloys and optimizing the internal shapes of rotors to provide optimal heat ventilation.

As we’re big believers in the merits of Brembo’s proprietary, motorsports-derived “Type-III” style rotors, we here at Unplugged are offering all kits with them. The Type-III asymmetric slots are designed to place emphasis on a solid initial bite, as well as provide the best overall feel and control with a consistent, crisp release of the pads from the surface of the rotor.
